All the action and anticipation when it comes to amplifiers at the moment seems to involve integrateds.
The latest
version of the award wining DK Design VS-1 reference mkIII has now arrived and
we now have good stock after a bit of a barren spell when the new version - now
called the LSA Standard – was beginning its initial product run. If you have
not heard this amp then let me assure you that it is in my opinion the best
sounding amp that I have heard under the £4k mark, and if you are after some
partnering advise then you could do a lot worse than to partner it with their
own LSA 2 Tower speaker and the Edgar CD-1 CD player as reviewed in the June
issue of Hi-Fi Choice, David Vivian did seem to rather like it! Talking of
integrated amplifiers, we have recently had the latest shipment of new products
from Coda delivered. For those not aware Coda were the manufacturers of the
highly rated Innersound Amplifiers that we used to import. Now we are being
supplied directly by Coda resulting in a lower price of the equivalent models
to the Innersound range and let me say that the Coda versions sound even
better! We also have access to a much larger range including a great new
integrated amp that goes head to head with the LSA Standard and I can tell that
if you don’t get along with the LSA amplifier then you will defiantly love the
Coda. It’s open, detailed and clean with a really nice musical and unforced
tonal balance, you must hear this one. At long
last we have the first shipment of Boulder 865 integrated amplifiers on their
way, we will only get a small amount in to begin with until Boulder catch up
with their back orders so be quick if you want to own the most anticipated
Boulder amp ever. |
