Grado Labs is an American family company based in Brooklyn, New York, founded in 1953 by Joseph Grado, a watchmaker by training, who began by making phono cartridges at his kitchen table. Grado made important early contributions to moving-coil and moving-iron cartridge design, and it still makes phono cartridges in its Prestige, Reference and Statement ranges. It is best known today for headphones. The SR series, beginning with models such as the SR60, SR80 and SR225, became some of the most popular audiophile headphones in the world, known for a lively, open and engaging sound and a distinctive retro look. The RS and GS series and the flagship PS models use wood and metal housings. Grado remains run by the Grado family, now under John Grado and his son Jonathan, and it still assembles its headphones and cartridges by hand in Brooklyn. Its headphones remain among the most popular audiophile models in the world.

More about Grado
Grado Headphones & Cartridges All Grado headphones are of a vented diaphragmdesign that incorporates a large volume air chamber. This design lowers the distortion of the diaphragm and extends bass response. The driver is made of a low mass polymer that provides low distortion and a full 20kHz response. Grado are so proud of this new cartridge and believe that it has so much to say about Grado technology, that they have decided to name it the GRADO STATEMENT The STATEMENT utilizes gold wire coils, a boron cantilever and a diamond cut specially for Grado.
All this is hand-assembled within a machined Australian jara wood housing. The output of the STATEMENT measures 0.75 mV-- the lowest output stereo cartridge ever offered by Grado. The STATEMENT's low frequency information andits portrayal of bass dynamics are solid, powerful and authoritative. The midrange is rich, complex and highly believable.
Its top-end seems to extend forever with speed and remarkable delicacy. Anyone who was impressed with Grado's previous top-of-the line effort, the Grado REFERENCE, will have their eyes open wide after listeningto the Grado STATEMENT.
