Kimber Kable is an American cable company based in Ogden, Utah, founded in 1979 by Ray Kimber. Kimber had worked in sound reinforcement and set out to design cables that rejected noise and interference without expensive shielding. His solution was a braided construction, with conductors woven together in a regular pattern, and the resulting multicoloured braided cables became Kimber's signature. Early speaker cables such as the 4PR and 8TC became some of the most widely used audiophile cables of the 1980s and 1990s, and interconnects such as the PBJ and Hero were similarly popular. Kimber's Select series sits at the top of the range, using copper, silver and hybrid conductors. The company manufactures its cables in Utah and has also run its own audiophile recording label, IsoMike. Kimber cables are associated with natural, smooth sound and good value. Its cables remain widely available at many price points. Its braided look is instantly recognisable.
