Nordost is an American cable company based in Massachusetts, founded in 1991. Its name and many of its product names come from Norse mythology, such as Valhalla, Odin, Heimdall, Tyr and Frey. Nordost became known for very thin, flat speaker cables and interconnects that use precision-extruded insulation around silver-plated copper conductors. Its cables are known for a fast, open and highly detailed sound, and the Valhalla and Odin ranges have been used in many reference systems and at hi-fi shows. Nordost also makes power cords, power distribution and conditioning products under the QRT name, and isolation devices such as its Sort Kones and Sort Füt. The company runs demonstrations and publishes material arguing for the audible effect of cables and system set-up, and its products cover price points from entry-level to statement. Its cables are often chosen by listeners looking for speed and openness, and the flat construction is easy to recognise. Nordost also supports dealers with set-up demonstrations designed to show the effect of each change to a system.

More about Nordost
Launched in 1999, it rapidly replaced SPM as a universal reference point, established shielded interconnects within the range, while the digital interconnects and power cords advanced things even further, introducing dual micro mono-filament construction for even lower dielectric effect. The Valhalla loom was completed in 2003 with the arrival of the Thor Power Distribution System along with three other micro mono-filament mains leads spanning the range. Meanwhile, the company had also been applying itself to the high-quality AV field, with its range of Optix and Silver Screen video cables. But the latest advance is possibly the biggest yet.
In 2007 Nordost shocked the audio world by introducing a new flagship product, Odin. Using dual micro mono-filament technology throughout, but combined in the interconnects and power cords with a revolutionary new screen of unprecedented performance, never has the company produced a cable of such complexity or demanding such manufacturing precision. Nordost Corporation is dedicated to the application of technology to the pursuit of audio excellence. Nordost really is making the connection.
