Audion is a British maker of valve amplifiers based in Brighton, established in the late 1980s. Its founders are reported to include David Chessell, of Audio Innovations, and the designer Erik Andersson, and Graeme Holland has owned the company since 2000. Audion is best known for its Silver Night amplifiers, born in the early 1990s after a new version of the classic 300B valve became available. The Silver Night uses two 300B valves per channel in parallel single-ended configuration, giving around 18 watts instead of the usual 8 or so from a single 300B, and it became one of the most acclaimed affordable single-ended amplifiers. The Golden Night, a lower-power single-ended design, and the EL34-based Sterling are also well known. Audion makes integrated amplifiers, power amplifiers, preamplifiers, phono stages and kits, and it remains a small, enthusiast-led company. Its amplifiers are especially popular with owners of efficient loudspeakers, which suit their modest power.

More about Audion
Audion Two of the most colourful characters in the hi-fi world today are David Chessell and Eric Anderson who are the men behind 'Audion'. Audion has always been a good match for some of the less sensitive speakers around but now with these new products emerging, Audion amplification can be considered more seriously for many other types of speaker. A pleasure to own and use.
