Boulder Amplifiers is an American company based in Colorado, founded by Jeff Nelson. It began by making amplifier modules for professional audio and recording studios before turning to domestic hi-fi, and it builds its products in its own factory. Boulder is known for fully balanced solid-state designs built around its own discrete gain stages, and for very heavy, precisely machined aluminium casework. Its ranges are numbered by series, from the 800 series at the entry point through the 1000 and 2000 series to the flagship 3000 series, which includes some of the largest and most expensive amplifiers on the market. The company makes preamplifiers, phono stages, power amplifiers, integrated amplifiers and digital players. Boulder's sound is usually described as powerful, controlled and highly detailed, with the ability to drive difficult loudspeakers with ease. Its electronics are a common choice in large reference systems and at hi-fi shows, often paired with demanding full-range speakers.

More about Boulder
Boulder Hand-crafted in the heart of Boulder, every product has exceptional strengths in producing the finest sound... Boulder, Colorado, Jeff Nelson decided, would be his escape from the frenzy of southern California. In addition to his desire for a better quality of life, Jeff came to Boulder with a goal: to start a company for creating the finest audio components he knew how ... his way and on his own terms.
He did not have to look far for a name: BOULDER connotes strength - and bolder is the characteristic sound a Boulder creates.
