Coda Technologies is an American amplifier maker based in California, formed by engineers with backgrounds at earlier high-end amplifier companies. Coda makes solid-state power amplifiers, preamplifiers and integrated amplifiers, and its designs are known for high-current, class-A-biased output stages and very substantial power supplies. Its amplifiers have been praised for combining the control and drive of solid state with a smooth and natural tonal balance, and for being able to drive difficult loudspeakers with ease. Models such as the CSX integrated amplifier, the FPX preamplifier and the Model 10 and Model 16 power amplifiers have been among its best known. Coda's styling is plain and functional, and its products have tended to stay in production for long periods with incremental updates rather than frequent replacements. Its products are less widely known than some American rivals but have a loyal following among owners. Its amplifiers are built in the United States and are known for their reliability over many years of use.
