Marantz was founded in New York in 1953 by Saul Marantz, an amateur musician and engineer whose first product, the Audio Consolette preamplifier, was built to improve the sound of records at home. Valve classics such as the Model 7 preamplifier and Model 9 power amplifier followed and are still among the most collected pieces of vintage hi-fi. The brand later passed to Superscope and then to Philips, and much of its engineering moved to Japan, where it built a long line of receivers, amplifiers and CD players. Today Marantz is part of the same group as Denon and offers a wide range from affordable stereo and home-cinema equipment to its premium Reference series. Its hi-fi products are known for a warm, musical presentation and for in-house circuits such as its HDAM amplifier modules. Marantz CD and SACD players have been especially popular, and the porthole-style display on many models has become a recognisable part of the brand's look.

More about Marantz
Even in the world of today where changing times in which audio meets vision, music is the defining ingredient. It?s about experiencing music just as the artist intended, even in the cinema. It is music that delivers the ecstasy and agony of a film?s story. To Marantz, perfect specifications and technical accomplishment count for nothing unless a product can unlock the power, the excitement and the emotion of music.
