MartinLogan is an American loudspeaker company based in Lawrence, Kansas, founded at the end of the 1970s by Gayle Martin Sanders and Ron Logan Sutherland. It is best known for electrostatic speakers, which move a thin charged diaphragm between two perforated metal plates instead of using a conventional cone driver. Electrostatics are prized for their speed and transparency, and MartinLogan's key contribution was its curved panel, which spreads sound more widely than a flat one. Most of its designs are hybrids, combining an electrostatic panel for the midrange and treble with a dynamic woofer for bass, which makes them easier to place and to drive than full-range electrostatics. Classic models include the full-range CLS and the large Monolith and Statement, while later ranges such as the Summit and the Neolith refined the hybrid formula. The company also makes conventional speakers, subwoofers and home-cinema models, but its see-through electrostatic panels remain its signature.

More about MartinLogan

Martin Logan Years ago Martin Logan realized the impossible and brought electrostatic-ESL-loudspeaker technology out of the laboratory and into the living room, creating a new standard for reference listening. Today, that experience embodies a far broader meaning. "Home Theater" is the beginning point. At MartinLogan, they pursue total system integration at all levels — extending from uncompromised music-only environments to completely virtual audio/video events.

As tomorrow's technologies reveal new directions in performance media, music, film/video production, expanded internet capabilities, multi-dimensional game play, and synergetic communication — they continue their commitment to providing seamless access to the total reference experience. Summit X is the first hybrid electrostatic speaker to bring controlled dispersion to low frequencies. Using a precision Vojtko Voiced™ crossover network to apply variable phasing near the crossover point, Summit X's Controlled Dispersion PoweredForce™ technology provides seamless blending with the XStat™ transducer. Four innovative modular feet adjust vertical dispersion over a 12 degree range, while the 25 and 50Hz level controls fine-tune woofer output to provide smooth, clean, and powerful bass throughout the listening environment.
