Pass Labs is an American amplifier company based in California, founded in 1991 by Nelson Pass, who had earlier co-founded Threshold. Pass is one of the most respected amplifier designers in the industry and is known for simple, class-A circuits with few gain stages. Pass Labs' Aleph amplifiers of the 1990s were single-ended class-A designs, and the company went on to develop its patented "Supersymmetry" topology in the X series, followed by the XA class-A power amplifiers, the XP preamplifiers and phono stages, and the very large XS monoblocks. Integrated amplifiers such as the INT-25 brought the same approach to a single box. Pass Labs' products are known for warm, natural and effortless sound and for their large heatsinks and blue power meters. Nelson Pass has also shared many designs openly with the DIY community through his separate First Watt company and published articles. Its amplifiers are known for their reliability and long service lives.
