PrimaLuna is a Dutch brand of valve amplifiers founded in 2003 by Herman van den Dungen. Its products are designed in the Netherlands and manufactured in China under close supervision, which allows it to offer heavily built, point-to-point wired valve amplifiers at much lower prices than comparable hand-built designs. PrimaLuna's first ranges, the ProLogue and later the DiaLogue, became popular as an affordable way into valve sound, and the EVO series followed. A key feature is its Adaptive AutoBias circuit, which automatically adjusts the output valves so owners can swap valve types without manual biasing and with less risk of damage. Many models can also be switched between ultralinear and triode operation. PrimaLuna makes integrated amplifiers, preamplifiers, power amplifiers, CD players and DACs, finished in a distinctive deep blue-black. Its amplifiers are known for their build quality, ease of use and warm, involving sound. The brand has helped introduce many listeners to valve amplification.
