Red Rose Music was an American hi-fi company run by Mark Levinson, the designer who had founded the famous Mark Levinson Audio Systems brand in the 1970s and later Cello. Red Rose made valve amplifiers, including the compact Rosette integrated amplifier and the more powerful Passion, as well as loudspeakers such as the Rosebud, the Classic, the R3 ribbon-tweeter standmount and the very expensive Revelation. The company presented its products as a return to natural, musical reproduction, and Stereophile reviewed several of them in the late 1990s and 2000s. Red Rose also had connections to recording, reflecting Levinson's long interest in live sound. Levinson later moved on to other projects, including the Daniel Hertz brand. Red Rose's current status is unclear, and its products appear mainly on the second-hand market. Levinson's name and long career gave the brand a high profile in the American hi-fi press, and its compact amplifiers were notable for offering his design approach at a lower price than his earlier products.
