Rockport Technologies is an American company based in Maine, founded and led by the designer Andy Payor. It first became known for the Sirius air-bearing turntable, a statement analogue design of enormous mass and precision, before concentrating on loudspeakers. Rockport speakers are built around extremely rigid cabinets, often made from cast or laminated composite materials with constrained-layer damping, and drive units built to the company's own specifications. The aim is a cabinet that contributes as little as possible to the sound, leaving clean, coherent and powerful reproduction. Models such as the Antares, Arrakis, Altair, Lyra and Avior, named after stars and celestial objects, have been among its best known, with prices ranging from high to extremely high. Rockport's speakers are frequently used in reference systems and demonstrations, often with high-powered solid-state amplification. The company is small and builds its products in-house. Its speakers are built in limited numbers, and each takes a considerable time to make, which partly explains their high prices and their reputation for exceptional build quality.

More about Rockport Technologies
Rockport are famed for producing one of the finest (and most expensive) turntables ever made, after a small absence in this country they are back with a range of exceptional loudspeakers. The philosophy is typically Rockport with an emphasis on magnificent build quality and over engineering, these speakers are made to the highest specifications and have possibly the most inert (and heaviest) cabinets of any speaker. this makes for a very clean and accurate sound without a hint of cabinet colourations. Bass notes are incredibly deep, but more importantly they start and stop with a speed that would make any sub-woofer blush.
The Rockports are more then just a very precise speaker though, they really do tread that very finest of lines that is detail and accuracy while still being smooth and incredible musical.
