Roksan is a British hi-fi company founded in London in 1985 by Touraj Moghaddam and Tufan Hashemi. It made its name with the Xerxes turntable, which used an unusual decoupled design to separate the motor and arm from the platter, and was seen as a bold challenger to the established British turntables of the 1980s. The Artemiz tonearm and later the Radius turntable continued its analogue line. Roksan then moved into electronics, with the Caspian and Kandy amplifiers and CD players becoming popular for their lively, dynamic sound, and it also produced loudspeakers. In 2016 the brand was acquired by Monitor Audio, which has continued Roksan with products such as the Attessa range of streaming amplifiers and the Caspian series. Roksan's designs are often noted for their distinctive styling, and the Xerxes in particular has kept a loyal following among vinyl enthusiasts. Older Roksan turntables and amplifiers remain popular on the second-hand market, and the brand is still widely recognised in British hi-fi.
