Vitus Audio is a Danish maker of high-end solid-state electronics, founded and led by the designer Hans-Ole Vitus. Its amplifiers are known for running a large part of their output in class A, for very substantial power supplies and for heavy, beautifully finished casework milled from aluminium. Vitus makes integrated amplifiers, preamplifiers, power amplifiers, phono stages and digital sources across several ranges, from the Reference series up to the Masterpiece series at the top. Models such as the SS-010 and RI-100 integrated amplifiers have been widely reviewed and are often described as combining enormous control and power with a smooth, natural sound. Vitus products are made in Denmark in small numbers, and the company sits alongside other Danish specialists that have given the country an outsized presence in high-end audio. Its electronics are frequently used with demanding, full-range loudspeakers. Vitus products are expensive and built in limited quantities, but they are widely regarded as some of the most complete solid-state electronics available, with a strong reputation in reviews and at shows.
