VTL, the Vacuum Tube Logic company, is an American maker of valve amplifiers based in California. It was founded by David Manley, and it has been led for many years by his son Luke Manley and Bea Lam. VTL is known for powerful valve amplifiers, a less common type than low-power single-ended designs, and for adding modern features such as automatic biasing, microprocessor monitoring and protection circuits to valve equipment. Its flagship Siegfried monoblocks and TL-7.5 preamplifier sit at the top of the range, while the MB-450 monoblocks, the ST-150 stereo amplifier and the IT-85 integrated amplifier have been popular further down. VTL amplifiers are usually described as dynamic, full-bodied and powerful, able to drive loudspeakers that would defeat many valve designs. The company also builds its own transformers and assembles its products in California. VTL has a long track record and a reputation for supporting its products over many years.
