Wisdom Audio is an American loudspeaker company known for planar-magnetic line-source speakers. Planar-magnetic drivers use a thin diaphragm with a conductor bonded to it, suspended in a magnetic field, which gives them a speed and transparency similar to electrostatics while being easier to drive. Wisdom arranges these drivers in tall line sources, which spread sound vertically in a controlled way and lose energy more slowly with distance than ordinary speakers, so they can play loudly and cleanly in large rooms. The company's early domestic models, such as the Adrenaline and the M and L series, were large, statement-level speakers. Wisdom later focused much of its work on custom installation, with in-wall and on-wall planar speakers such as the Sage and Insight series and matching subwoofers for high-end home cinemas and media rooms. Its speakers are known for dynamic, low-distortion sound at high volumes. Its products are sold through specialist installers and dealers.

Wisdom Audio manufactures a range of very high end line source loudspeakers. These behave very differently from conventioanl point source loudspeakers. Point source speakers produce sound from a single point, expanding in all directions; floor to ceiling and from side to side. When various drivers are matched together (mid-bass, bass, mid etc.) as closely spaced point sources, the sound from each driver is projected foward in ever increasing, overlapping patterns.
These intersect and reflect around the listner at different times and intensities. This causes live spots and dead spots, also distortion and contamination of a clear image. A line source radiates sound in the form of an ever expanding cylinder, not as a sphere. Hardly any energy is radiated above and below the driver, except low frequencies, which are omni-directional by nature.
The natural vertical direction of the sound eliminates floor and ceiling reflection, without the need for multiple tweeters or other controversial techniques. What all this technical guff means is that the Wisdom Audio line source loudspeaers produce a full range sound covering all audible frequencies without the use of multiple divers or crossovers. This therefore eliminates any frquency cancellation caused by poor crossover construction and room interaction.
