Harmonic Resolution Systems, usually shortened to HRS, is an American maker of equipment racks and isolation products based in Buffalo, New York. It was founded around 1999 by Michael Latvis, an engineer whose earlier career was in vibration isolation for aerospace, defence and industrial equipment, including avionics and helicopter rotor systems. HRS applies that engineering to audio: its isolation bases, platforms and racks use combinations of machined aluminium, dense composite materials and tuned elastomers to stop vibration from reaching sensitive components. Its ranges include the SXR, RXR and VXR racks, the M3X and other isolation bases, and smaller devices such as Nimbus couplers and Vortex feet. The company holds several patents in shock and vibration isolation. HRS products are widely used in reference systems and are often credited by reviewers with making systems sound quieter and more focused. HRS products are heavy, precisely machined and built in the United States.
